Brand Name Configuration
Your brand name is the primary identifier SearchRank AI uses to detect mentions across AI search responses. Proper configuration is essential for accurate tracking and meaningful insights.
Choosing Your Primary Brand Name
Select the most common official representation of your brand. This should be:
- The name most frequently used in marketing materials
- How customers typically refer to your brand
- The official registered trademark (if applicable)
Examples
Good Primary Names:
✓ SearchRank AI
✓ Acme Corporation
✓ TechStart Pro
Avoid:
✗ searchrank.ai (use domain separately)
✗ SEARCHRANK AI (unless this is standard usage)
✗ Search Rank AI Tool (too specific)
Case Sensitivity
By default, SearchRank AI uses case-insensitive matching for greater coverage. However, you can configure case-sensitive matching for brands where case matters:
- Case-insensitive (default): "SearchRank" matches "searchrank", "SEARCHRANK", "SeArChRaNk"
- Case-sensitive: Only exact case matches are detected
Special Characters and Spacing
Consider how AI engines might represent your brand:
- Spaces: "Search Rank" vs "SearchRank"
- Hyphens: "Search-Rank" vs "SearchRank"
- Periods: "Search.Rank" (rare but possible)
- Ampersands: "Johnson & Johnson" vs "Johnson and Johnson"
Configuration Tips
Primary Name: SearchRank AI
Add as Aliases:
- Search Rank AI
- SearchRank-AI
- Search-Rank AI
Multi-Word Brand Names
For brands with multiple words, AI engines may:
- Combine words: "SearchRankAI"
- Add spaces: "Search Rank AI"
- Use partial names: "SearchRank"
- Add descriptors: "SearchRank AI platform"
Common Configuration Mistakes
Too Specific
❌ "SearchRank AI - The AI Search Visibility Platform"
✓ "SearchRank AI"
Too Generic
❌ "Search" (too many false positives)
✓ "SearchRank AI"
Including Legal Suffixes
❌ "Acme Corporation Inc. LLC"
✓ "Acme Corporation"
Testing Your Configuration
After setting your brand name:
- Create a simple prompt mentioning your brand
- Execute the prompt on test data
- Verify brand detection in the results
- Check for false positives and negatives
Updating Brand Names
You can update your brand name anytime, but consider:
- Historical data will use the old brand name
- Running new prompts will use updated detection
- Aliases are maintained separately and can be updated independently
Best Practices Summary
- Use your most common brand representation
- Keep the primary name concise and recognizable
- Don't include legal suffixes unless they're part of common usage
